Frequently Asked Questions

Ever wondered what the answer is to some of our most frequently asked questions? Read on below to find out what you might need to know.

Where are you based?

1 Osborne Road, Jesmond, NE2 2AA

Is there parking?

Parking is NOT permitted outside the building, however there is Free on-street parking a few minutes’ walk away on Fernwood Road.

Can I get to you by public transport?

Yes, the clinic is opposite Jesmond Metro Station and the Q3 bus goes along Osborne Road.

Do you have disabled access?

My clinic is based on the Ground Floor, however there is a flight of stairs to get into the building.

Why do you ask about medical conditions I may have?

I need to have an understanding of any medical conditions/medications that you have so I can offer you the correct massage, as there are some conditions/medications that are classed as contra-indication to massage, and I would not be able to massage or would need consent from your medical team that massage would benefit rather than hinder you.

What are your massage memberships?

The membership helps you to have a regular monthly massage. You can choose from a 30-, 45- or 50-minute session each month.  Payment is taken on the 1st of each month by direct debit.  You sign up for an initial 6-month period then it moves to a month-to-month contract.

Training courses are they accredited?

Yes, all my training courses are fully accredited with ABT.  This will allow you to obtain insurance and practice as a massage therapist (subject to passing the training)

Where do you hold your training courses?

All my training courses take place within my therapy clinic in Jesmond.

How many students do you have on your courses?

All my accredited training courses have a maximum of 4 students.   I also offer solo 1-2-1 training if you would prefer this option.

Do you have gift vouchers?

Yes, you can purchase gift vouchers from the website – https://essential-thyme.co.uk/vouchers/

I am looking for a relaxing spa type experience, is this what you offer?

My massages can be relaxing; however, I focus on helping people with pain and symptom management.  My clinic reflects this with no background music as I need to communicate with clients during their sessions.

I want to book a massage, but I don’t know which therapy would be the best for me, what do you recommend?

The way I work, is to find out the areas that you are having issues with and concentrate on them, you could get 4 or 5 different massage techniques within your one session.  This is why you book a 30-, 45- or 60- minute appointment rather than choosing a certain therapy, I am the expert in all the therapies I am trained in and can advise which ones would give you the most benefit, however if there is a certain therapy you want this can be incorporated into your session.

Who are you regulated by?

At the moment the massage industry is self-regulated.  I am a member of the following professional bodies – Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT), International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA), Complementary & Natural Health Care Council (CNHC), & the Complementary Medical Association (CMA).  With all these bodies I must work within their codes of ethics and conduct.
