Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is based on the Indian Ayurveda system of healing and has been practised there for over 1,000 years. This style of head massage was brought to the West in the 1970’s and subtly adapted for our culture.

Indian Head Massage works on your upper back, shoulders, neck, arms and head.  You can receive this massage in a seated position.  It can be given either fully clothed without oil or have the upper back and shoulder exposed and oil is applied.  You can also have this massage while lying down on the massage couch and can be incorporated into a back, neck and shoulder massage.

The aim of this therapy is to release stress which has been built up in the tissues, muscles and joints around your head, neck, face, shoulders and upper back.

The neck and shoulders are the main areas where stress and is around the neck and shoulder area in the body.  This can have a knock on effect to your health such as tension headaches where the tension is actually coming from the shoulders and not the head, bad posture of rounded shoulders and head further forward rather than in natural position, this can cause balance issues.  By working on these muscle groups it can help with posture to realign the body back into a neutral position which then can have a knock on effect to helping the rest of the body to be balanced.
