Trigger Point Release

Trigger point release is designed to alleviate sources of pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release

Trigger Point Release

A trigger point is a hyper-irritable area found within the muscle & fascia fibres of the body.  They can feel like a little lump under the skin and when pressure is applied can cause pain/discomfort either in the direct area of pressure or elsewhere in the body which is known as referred pain.  Some people will refer the Trigger Points as “knots” in the muscles.

For example, a trigger point in your lower back may produce what is called referred pain in your neck. Your neck, now acting as a satellite trigger point, may then cause pain in your head, pain that may be either sharp or a dull ache.

This type of massage therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of your pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release, and your Essential Thyme therapist is trained to quickly find and act upon these trigger points.

The result? Constricted areas in your muscles are released and many people can experience significant relief after just one treatment.  You will find if you have a trigger point work you will also experience Myofascial release as these two therapies work hand in hand with each other.

In addition, receiving massage with trigger point therapy on a regular basis can help naturally manage the pain and stress experienced from chronic injuries.  You will also experience better mobility and flexibility in your muscles and joints as the muscles/fascia have been released and therefore have a better range of movement and mobility.

Some people have described the sensation they experience during a this therapy, that they can feel the tension melting away and the muscle softening up under the area where the pressure has been administered.

Trigger point release can be and usually is incorporated into any other Essential Thyme massage therapies.
